Project description

This 30,000 seat stadium sets the tone for large-scale development in the region. The structure combines a concrete basement with a steel-framed seating bowl and a complex roof system, including a central net shell. A standout feature is the roof’s horizontal cable-supported aluminium alloy structure, which resolves significant two-way span variations with precision and efficiency.

Judge’s comments

A technically ambitious stadium that introduces China’s first horizontal tension aluminium alloy cable-stayed roof system. Developed through parametric design, the design features a mass-damping central ring, rocking columns, and finely detailed inner–outer ring connections to resolve complex long-span challenges. The efficient structural system, material selection, and integration with the surrounding landscape demonstrate innovative engineering at scale.
