The transformation of a former timber warehouse into an innovation hub places sustainability, innovation and user wellbeing at its centre. Based on adaptive reuse, the project preserves the primary timber structure while integrating daylight and fresh air to create a healthy indoor climate. It demonstrates how future construction can be found within existing buildings, uniting materials, structure and architecture in an integrated solution with reduced environmental impact.
This adaptive reuse project places circular economy principles at the heart of the design process. Judges praised the extensive retention of the existing structure, the reuse and recertification of materials, and the thoughtful incorporation of salvaged elements into new applications.
