Join this sponsored webinar by SPEC Toolbox to watch a real mass timber building designed live to the second generation Eurocode 5 (2025), using supplier products in their software.

The second-generation Eurocode 5 (EN 1995: 2025) reshapes how engineers design timber structures. For the first time, cross-laminated timber (CLT) is fully codified, the structural fire design provisions (EN 1995-1-2) have been overhauled, and the rules for connections substantially revised.

In this webinar, speakers will design a real mass timber building live, using the SPEC Toolbox structural engineering software with the timber supply chain built in. Working through CLT panels, fire design, glulam beams and columns, hangers, and connection details, they’ll show what the new code requires at each step, and how designing with real, available supplier products from the outset changes the workflow.

The webinar will cover:

  • Introduction: the new Eurocode 5 and the example building

  • CLT design: floor panels to the new code, with real supplier products

  • CLT fire design: charring and fire resistance under the updated provisions

  • Glulam beams and columns

  • Beam-to-column connections and hangers

  • Screws and connection details

  • Q&A

Reasons to attend:

  • Identify the key changes in the second-generation Eurocode 5 (2025) affecting timber, CLT, fire, and connection design.

  • Apply the new provisions to a real building example: CLT floors, fire design, glulam beams and columns, hangers, screws and connection details.

  • Experience a supply-chain-connected design workflow with real supplier products, and how it affects specification and buildability decisions.

  • Validate and document code-compliant timber designs more efficiently.

Intended for:

  • Structural engineers designing in timber and mass timber (CLT and glulam)

  • Fire engineers and engineers responsible for structural fire design of timber buildings

  • Engineers and practices preparing for the transition to the second-generation Eurocodes

  • Timber suppliers, specifiers and others involved in the mass timber supply chain
