Our membership exams are seven hours long. They are demanding tests of your competence, designed to ensure that our MIStructE and IMIStructE designations remain highly regarded around the world as the mark of professional and technical excellence.
There are lots of useful ways to prepare for your exams, including consulting past papers, reading tips from successful candidates, and attending exam preparation courses.
New preparation resources
The Examinations Panel have published a small number of Chief Examiner critiques, and a fully-critiqued answer script by a candidate from the February 2023 exam. These new resources should be viewed by all candidates as part of their preparations.

2025 Key election dates
The table below sets out the schedule of meetings where elections to professional grades of membership occur. Once you have passed both the Examination and Professional Review Interview (if applicable), you will be considered for election at the next available dates as set out below. Please note that interview results are only released after initially being approved at the appropriate Application & Professional Review Panel meeting.
Please note: you do not need to contact us, you will receive an email within a couple of days of the committee meeting that will confirm your outcome.
