Supporting UK implementation of second generation Eurocodes
For the past 13 years, a major collaborative programme has been undertaken, under the leadership of CEN/TC 250, to develop the second generation of the Eurocodes - the structural and geotechnical design standards for buildings and civil engineering works. This programme has involved many thousands of experts from across Europe and had substantial contributions and leadership from UK.
This extensive programme, delivered on schedule and with an exemplary level of international consensus, has resulted in a better, more up-to-date and more comprehensive suite of standards with enhanced clarity and ease of use, and significant new and improved scope.
In 2028, the second generation Eurocodes will replace the first generation Eurocodes as the UK’s national standards for structural and geotechnical design. This will be a significant change and this website has been set up to support engineers with the transition, providing the latest information and guidance, helping unlock the benefits of the new standards and smoothing the path to their adoption.
I hope you find it helpful, and we’ll be delighted to receive your feedback.
