Chartered Membership

The Institution has two grades which are entitled to use the title Chartered Structural Engineer: Fellow (FIStructE) and Member (MIStructE). In addition to the use of the Institution designations and title of Chartered Structural Engineer members who have attained these grades are eligible for registration as Chartered Engineers (CEng) with the Engineering Council.

Professionally qualified

We have five professional grades – Members and Fellows who may use the title Chartered Structural Engineers, plus Associate (AIStructE), which is also eligible for registration as Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the Engineering Council. Additionally, we have grades of Incorporated Member (IMIStructE) and Technician Member (TIStructE) who may register with the Engineering Council as Incorporated Engineers (IEng) and Engineering Technician (EngTech).
