Good to know:

Chartered Membership

The Institution has two Chartered Membership grades: Fellow (FIStructE) and Member (MIStructE). Members who have attained these grades are eligible for registration as Chartered Engineers (CEng) with the Engineering Council.

Professionally qualified

We have five professionally qualified grades - the two Chartered grades above plus Associate (AIStructE), Incorporated-Member (IMIStructE), and Technician Member (TIStructE). These grades are eligible for registration with the Engineering Council as either CEng (Associate), IEng (Incorporated-Member) or EngTech (Technician Member).

 

Registration and certification in the UK

As a professionally qualified member we can register you with the UK Engineering Council

You're also eligible to apply for a Professionally Qualified Person Card via the UK's Construction Skills Certification Scheme.

 

Registration in Europe

If you are registered CEng with the Engineering Council we can register you as EUR ING with FEANI (the European Federation of National Engineering Associates). 

To apply via IStructE complete the application form and return it to our membership team

There is an initial fee of £210.

Please note: make sure you give the full name of your university and degree, plus complete details of your engineering experience, to ensure your application proceeds smoothly. 

 

Registration with International Alliance

IntPE (UK)

If you are registered CEng with the Engineering Council we can register you as IntPE(UK) with the International Engineering Alliance – which allows easier access to the national registers of members

To apply via IStructE download the relevant form from the Engineering Council and return it to our membership team

The registration fee is £105, renewable every five years at a fee of £60.

Please note: we can’t register those who achieved Chartered Status via Technical Report or another alternative route.

IntET (UK)

If you’re registered IEng with the Engineering Council we can register you as IntET (UK) with the International Engineering Alliance – which allows easier access to the national registers of members

To apply via IStructE download the relevant form from the Engineering Council and return it to our membership team

The registration fee is £105, renewable every five years at a fee of £60.

Please note: we can’t register members who achieved membership via Technical Report or another alternative route.
 

Registration in Australia

If you are seeking professional registration status in the states of Queensland or Victoria you can apply via the IStructE’s assessment schemes. Membership of the IStructE is not necessary.
