Our Expert Witness register promotes Chartered Members with the high standard of professional skills and experience required to serve as Expert Witnesses.
Benefits
Unlike other registers, the IStructE register includes details of your specialist structural engineering skills, helping clients and legal professionals access the expertise they require quickly and effectively.
All successful applicants who apply via IStructE will also be given membership of The Academy of Expert "TAE" (which requires compliance with TAE Rules), with all benefits of membership available to them for that year at no additional charge (including technical advice and guidance, information services and practical assistance in relation to their work as an Expert Witness).
The TAE Vetting Committee will determine whether an applicant meets the criteria for *Tier 1* registration (equivalent to Full Member of TAE) or *Tier 2* registration (equivalent to Associate Member of TAE).
Qualifying criteria
You will need to be a Chartered Member of IStructE and be assessed as having the knowledge, skills and experience required.
The assessment undertaken by The Academy of Experts, in addition to consulting referees, will require to be
satisfied as to:
• The standing of the applicant within the profession of structural engineering.
• The integrity of the applicant.
• The ability of the applicant to express views concisely and clearly.
• The standard of the report(s) submitted.
