Keith Roberts is a chartered civil and structural engineer who has specialised in the inspection and design of roofing systems in the UK and Ireland since 1991. Roof types have included built-up felt, single ply, asphalt, metal standing seam, composite panel, fibre cement sheet, tile and slate roofs.
His special interests are in wind induced roof failures, rainwater goods systems and roof reliability.
He has written more than 200 technical notes on roofing issues and leads training seminars within the roofing industry.
He has written and presented peer reviewed papers at conferences world-wide. This includes a paper at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London on ‘wind damage to lightweight roofs’, and a paper on ‘improving the reliability of roof constructions’ presented at the Roof Consultants Institute annual convention in California, USA.
He is currently Co-ordinator of CIB Working Group W83, the International Committee on Roofing Materials and Systems.
He has broad experience in attending meetings of experts, presenting evidence in court and is a regular and active participant in resolving disputes through mediation.
