Dr Richards has developed his career so far over a 32-year period and has an excellent combination of practical project delivery and specialist expertise. Amongst his project delivery experience as a practicing Chartered Structural Engineer are prestigious examples such as; Heron Tower (now SalesForce Tower) in the city of London and Heathrow Terminal 5.
His specialist knowledge stems from his formal academic research into the vibration characteristics of building, to which the design of high-performance facilities such as the new buildings for the Institute for Compound Semiconductors, Cardiff University, has been applied.
Dr Richards has been employed as an Expert Witness on topics of building design where opinion within cases of litigation seek a practical and technical knowledge and a thorough understanding of design standards. And, more recently, providing opinion to solicitors were litigation has arisen thorough design and building contracts concerning cladding systems.
Engagement is welcome on topics concerning building design in general, but his particular expertise shall provide great benefit to cases involving: tall buildings, vibration of structures, basements, steelwork design, FRP and GRP structures.
