The Structural Engineer, Volume 21, Issue 11, 1943
THE time has arrived when, in spite of the unquestionable importance of pursuing our war activities to the utmost, we must peer a little into the mists of the future to see whether we cannot garner from the welter of vileness perpetrated during the war a few major benefits for mankind. Alfred C. Bossom
An Ordinary Meeting of the Institution of Structural Engineers was held at 11, Upper Belgrave Street, London, S.W.1, on Thursday, May 13th, 1943, at 5.30 p.m., Mr. W.K. Wallace, M.Inst.C.E., M.1.Struct.E. (President) in the Chair.
It is with deep regret that we record the death on the 9th October of Mr. Sven Bylander, a Founder Member of the Concrete Institute. Mr. Bylander was 66 years of age. He was born in Sweden and was educated at Ara and at Boras Technical College. He spent two years as a draughtsman in the Lindholmens shipyard at Gothenburg and gained further experience in Germany and the United States. He specialised in structural steelwork and during his career was responsible for the steelwork of many notable buildings.
