SIR PATRICK HANNON, M.P., who accepted with pleasure the President’s invitation to propose a vote of thanks to Mr. Hicks, said he felt that perhaps he ought to apologise to the President and members for speaking so frequently at meetings of the Institution at which he was honoured to be invited. But he was particularly proud and privileged to be present on that occasion and to be asked to propose a vote of thanks to his Honourable friend and colleague, Mr. George Hicks, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Works.
AN Ordinary Meeting of the Institution of Structural Engineers was held at 11, Upper Belgrave Street, London, S.W.1, on Thursday November 4th, 1943, Major A.H.S. Waters, V.C., D.S.O., M.C., M.Inst.C.E., M.I.Mech.E., M.1.Struct.E. (President), in the Chair. The purpose of the meeting was to hear an address by Mr. George Hicks, M.P. (Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works), on the work and organisation of the Ministry.
