An Investigation of Folded Plate Structures
The present paper is concerned with the correlation between theoretical and experimental stresses in folded plate structures subjected to various types of load conditions. The author's theory for determining stresses in folded plate structures by using cylindrical shell theory is compared with experimental results for a typical folded plate structure, subjected to symmetrical and asymmetrical uniformly distributed loads. This theory is then compared with the work of Scordelis, who used elastic plate theory in his investigation of a plate structure subjected to line loads. Finally the converse problem, namely the stress analysis of a cylindrical shell by using a folded plate approximation, is investigated using the author's theory. J.E. Gibson

Building Management in the '70s. Discussion on Discussion on the paper by C. E. D. Wooster ARIBA AM
The Chairman said he was very struck by the close relationship between a discussion meeting on productivity held at the Institution in January 1963 and the paper just presented. On the author’s chart a period for contract planning was allowed for immediately after the contract had been let. The same suggestion had been made in the Institution at the discussion on productivity.

The New Mohaka River Bridge
The paper describes the new highway bridge to carry the Napier-Taupo road over the Upper Mohaka River in Hawkes Bay, North Island, New Zealand. The choice of the type of bridge and factors influencing the design are discussed. An account is given of the construction of the substructure and the erection of the superstructure from each bank.
