Annual Academics conference 2020 highlights: structural engineering education, VIPs for sustainable development and confident re-use.

This session from the 2020 Annual Academics Conference focuses on developing learning outcomes:

  • Vertically Integrated Projects for sustainable development. Delivered by Scott Strachan, Senior Teaching Fellow at University of Strathclyde

Speakers


Margaret Cooke is a chartered, conservation accredited structural engineer and a founding Director of Integral Engineering Design. She has particular expertise in conservation, re-use of building structures and low energy materials.

Tim Ibell was IStructE President in 2015, and is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He has a passion for celebrating creativity within our profession, and for using this creativity to inspire students. Tim has been Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Bath since 2003, including a year's interlude as the Sir Kirby Laing Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Cambridge in 2017/18. Tim has been the Chairman of the Structural Awards judging panel since 2018.

Scott Strachan is a Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Strathclyde. He is the reciepient of several awards including the Campus Sustainability Research Awards at the 2020 AASHE Sustainability Awards and the 2020 International Green Gown Award for a Large Institution.
