Understand flood risk management strategies and how to take a multi-hazard approach to flood resistance, resilience and avoidance in residential projects.

In this webinar, an academic and industry expert showcase their multi-hazard design approach, developed in response to the increased risk of flooding caused by climate change effects. Their innovative low-carbon, flood-resilient, steel and modular housing system provides a robust strategy for adaptation and mitigation in the face of natural hazards, like floods and wind, based on the used of mechanical jacks.

While 29% of the world’s population currently lives in flood-prone areas, with the current growth trends, it is not realistic nor practical to opt out of building in floodplains. The economic impacts of damage to properties due to erosion and landslides are devastating and insurance policies rarely cover the loss.

As the climate change emergency is exacerbating the need of natural phenomenon’s mitigation, both in the UK and internationally, this webinar explored some of the cutting-edge approaches already available to designers and developers worldwide.

Reasons to watch

  • Learn about risk-management strategies that provide flood-resilience to residential projects developed in flood-prone areas and how the proposed approach can be extended to critical infrastructure

  • Understand how you could adapt the multi-hazard approach and design matrix in your residential projects

  • Learn about natural-disaster mitigation and the solutions already available to you

Intended for

  • SME practitioners working in flood-prone zones, both in the UK and internationally

  • Residential developers
