Our 2024 President is Tanya de Hoog

Tanya de Hoog FIStructE, CEng, MIEAust is the 103rd and fourth woman President of the Institution of Structural Engineers. 

An experienced and talented structural engineer, Tanya has delivered high profile and complex projects around the world including work on world-class sporting venues such as the Oval Cricket Ground in London and Lisbon’s Benfica Football Club. Tanya describes the design of a new roof over Wimbledon No 1 Court for the All England Lawn Tennis Club, as one of the high points in her career.   

Tanya has a Masters in Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment from the University of Cambridge, and graduated from the University of Wollongong with a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering. 

Tanya plays a proactive role at IStructE, where she was elected as a Member in 2003, and became a Fellow in 2014. This was followed by election to IStructE’s board in 2016.

As 2024 President, Tanya places ‘people and planet’ front and centre of her priorities, with a call to action for engineers and related professions to join in making change happen.
