A technical talk on Second Generation Eurocodes.

The session will give an overview of the current position on the Second Generation Eurocodes, including the areas where there is now useful guidance, areas where the National Annex position is still developing, and what engineers should be preparing for ahead of the transition.
The main focus will be on structural steel design, particularly EN 1993-1-1, with additional commentary on selected changes in EN 1990, EN 1991, EN 1993-1-8, EN 1993-1-10, composite design and newer steel-related Eurocode parts.

Speakers

David Brown

David Brown is an Associate Director at the Steel Construction Institute and a widely recognised presenter on practical steel design. Before joining SCI in 1992, David worked for steelwork contractors and British Rail. He regularly delivers SCI courses and webinars on structural steel design, with particular emphasis on practical application, Eurocode design and design guidance for practising engineers.

Graham Couchman

Graham has extensive experience across structural engineering, materials testing, building physics and steel-concrete composite construction. Since 2011, he has chaired CEN/TC250/SC4, the committee responsible for Eurocode 4, making him particularly well placed to comment on composite design and the development of the Second Generation Eurocodes.
