The CHAIRMAN (Mr. Ewart S. Andrews, Vice- President) said that Mr. Crabtree’s review of structural steelwork had been very extensive, and a study of it was most enjoyable. It contained a great deal of matter which was very interesting and useful, particularly
to younger designers who had to deal with the moments in steel beam connections, and Mr. Crabtree had given the results of many years of experience in this work. He was a practical steelwork designer, and usually there was very good reason for taking notice of anything he said.
Welding Processes. Welding is a method of uniting two pieces of metal by fusing, or by almost fusing, the pieces at the junction, the joint being completed with or without mechanical means according to the process used.
These notes, collected over a period of some twenty-five years in Great Britain, Europe, and the United States, are the more interesting items in connection with structures of reinforced concrete and steel and their equipment.
