The Structural Engineer, Volume 12, Issue 6, 1934
IT is our very pleasant privilege to acclaim Ewart Sigmund Andrews as our President for the 1934-35 session. Mr. Andrews has taken a prominent part in the work of the Institution of Structural Engineers since he became a member in 1912, and is indeed generally recognised as one of the foremost authorities on structural engineering in the country.
THIS is not intended to be a “paper,” but rather a few concise notes on the Bristol Docks undertaking, dealing more fully with the developments of recent years, which give Bristol the right to consider that it is not only up-to-date but possibly ahead of the times, and is an indication that it is fully prepared to face up to and equip itself to deal with the ever-changing conditions. Mr. W. H. WOODCOCK (Associate), proposing a hearty vote of thanks to the Author, said that there waa previously very little literature on the subject of lightweight concrete construction, and it was valuable to have published in a paper such as this details of the various substances available.
