IT is our very pleasant privilege to acclaim Ewart Sigmund Andrews as our President for the 1934-35 session. Mr. Andrews has taken a prominent part in the work of the Institution of Structural Engineers since he became a member in 1912, and is indeed generally recognised as one of the foremost authorities on structural engineering in the country.
The purpose of this paper is to describe the Portishead Generating Station of the City and County of Bristol Electricity Department. A.J. Newman
Mr. W. H. WOODCOCK (Associate), proposing a hearty vote of thanks to the Author, said that there waa previously very little literature on the subject of lightweight concrete construction, and it was valuable to have published in a paper such as this details of the various substances available.
