PART I.
INTRODUCTION.
In the following series of articles on the analysis of Portal Frames and framed bents in general, the Author wishes to state that he does not claim to introduce any new methods, or ideas, but has used wellknown and established basic fundamental principles rearranged to enable the reader to have a complete analysis covering a wide field of a particular kind of indeterminate structure. These fundamental principles and explanatory reading have been copied from various books of reference. The reader will find these books of reference mentioned within the footnotes. The following articles will cover from the simple Encastre beam to the complete closed ring, either rectangular or Circular, without internal members, with different kinds of intermediate forms of frames, for example, Ell Frames, Portals, Mansards, and of course the arch.
