Elected to Honorary Membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers on the 24th April, 1947.
On a motion proposed by the President a vote of thanks was unanimously passed to the scrutineers.
The Council regret to announce that Mr. John Thomas Saunders, F.R.I.B.A., a former Member of the Council and Vice-president of the Institution, died on the 7th April, 1947. Mr. Saunders was born in 1876 and was educated at the Knox Institute, Haddington, and Watson's College, Edinburgh. He studied architecture and engineering at Heriot Watt College, Edinburgh, and continued his training in London under Mr. M. Maberley Smith, F.R.I.B.A. After serving for three years in the Army in the 1914-18 war, he returned to practice in 1917. His principal architectural works included the Princess Louise Hospital, North Kensington, and New Place, Framfield.
