This is an abstract from the second periodical review of engineering work at the Building Research Station. Like the first it is designed to bring to the attention of engineers and others some recent publications by reviewing them together and setting them in their context.
The Berkeley Nuclear Power Station has the unique distinction of being one of the first two nuclear power stations to be put under construction for the Central Electricity Generating Board. Work started on site in January 1956, the first reactor being programmed to be loaded with fuel in June 1960, and the second some six months later. D.R.R. Dick
