The Structural Engineer, Volume 76, Issue 8, 1998
This paper presents the background to the third edition of the British Ports Association (BPA) heavy duty pavement design manual, published in 1996. It describes a radically new way of analysing pavements which is incorporated in the design method. It includes a design chart which can be used to proportion the courses of heavy duty pavements. It describes materials used commonly in heavy duty pavements and explains the special nature of loads encountered on heavy duty pavements. Professor J. Knapton
This paper sets out the development of the construction project process from its beginnings - in terms of recent history - to the current form which includes the provision of finance. K.W. Evans and S. Hockaday
