Suddenly, the seemingly ambitious vision of so many community groups, local and national organisations to restore Scotland’s lowland canals seemed a step nearer. A large tick could be placed against all the key criteria and The Millennium Link project was born. Like any infant there were frequent falls associated with the tottering steps towards maturity and it was many years before all the issues were resolved sufficiently to allow construction work to begin.
