1819 tests on concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) columns are reported, the full data is given on the website http://web.ukonline.co.uk/asccs2. The test results are compared with analysis using Eurocode 4 calculations and discussed. The author considers that Eurocode 4 can be used with confidence the average test/EC 4 ratio for all tests being 1.11; however, the number of tests, 17%, failing before reaching the resistance predicted by the Code is disturbing. The Eurocode 4 limitations on concrete strength could be safely extended to C75/94 for circular sections and C60/75 for rectangular sections.
