The Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway project in Kuwait includes the design, build, completion and maintenance of a major road link (Doha Link) between Shuwaikh Port in Kuwait City and the Doha Peninsula.

The main structure in the link is the 7.7km marine viaduct which crosses Sulaibikhat Bay and has been constructed using the full-span launching method.

This paper gives an overview of the design and construction of this challenging project, and explains how these have been optimised to ensure successful delivery within the demanding programme constraints.
