Mohamad Al-Dah FIStructE is the Institution of Structral Engineers 2025 President, succeeding Tanya de Hoog.

As the Institution’s 104th President, Mohamad Al-Dah brings a wealth of experience to the role, with a global career spanning Cairo, Cardiff, London, Panama, Seoul and Dubai where he is currently the Director at the Jointly Owned Properties Department, Real Estate Regulatory Agency, DLD, Government of Dubai.

At his Inaugural Address on 23 January, Mohamad spoke about his route into the profession, and shared his thematic ambitions for his presidential year:
  • embodied carbon action: encouraging IStructE members to think and do more to reduce embodied carbon in their work.
  • forging partnerships: working with other professional bodies, academia, and firms to achieve aims and goals together.
  • mentoring and EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion): continuing to develop mentoring and EDI at IStructE.
Mohamad Al-Dah says: “I thank Tanya de Hoog for her 2024 presidency, with calls to action that inspired the profession to think about our roles and where we can make a difference.

“Structural engineering is an ever-changing profession, operating in an ever-changing world. As such, we have the technical skills and influence to bring about positive change in the designs we create and build – to be more carbon literate; to forge meaningful working relationships with others; to foster a culture of mentoring and adherence to the best EDI principles – all this while ensuring what we design and build is safe.”

Yasmin Becker, CEO of IStructE comments: “Mohamad’s enthusiasm for structural engineering is evident in all he does, from mentoring to making links with other professional bodies and organisations to create a better built environment. We all congratulate Mohamad on becoming President, and I look forward to our continued work together in 2025.”
