Read award-winning papers and discover members recognised for their commitment to the Institution.

Members of the Institution, family and friends attended an event at BMA House in London on 12 June 2019 for our annual celebration of professional and technical excellence and outstanding commitment to the Institution. 

The event was hosted by 2019 President Joe Kindregan, Institution Chief Executive Martin Powell, and Deputy Chief Executive Darren Bryne.

Papers Awards 

Our judging panel recognises the best work published in The Structural Engineer each year, as well as the best lectures given at HQ or around our Regional Groups.

Pai Lin Li Travel Award: Arthur Coates

The Young Structural Engineering Professional Award 2019: Kristina Scheibler-Frood
For her presentation of her work on No. 1 Palace Street

President’s Award 2018: Alastair Soane
For his total commitment to establishing and developing CROSS over many years, promoting international relationships and confidence in the robustness and global applicability of CROSS; and for his overall leadership as Director of Structural-Safety.

Keith Eaton Award: Peter Tak Sum Ho 
For his promotion of the Institution on an international platform including conference organisation and as an examiner in Singapore and the People’s Republic of China.

The Lifetime Achievement Award: Tony Gibbs 
For his dedicated service to the Institution for a period spanning over 45 years, including the Board, Council, Committees, Panels and the Caribbean Regional Group.
