A ten hour online training course originally commissioned by the Arup Partnership.

This structural behaviour course is offered by E-Training System. This is not an Institution of Structural Engineers resource.

The E-Training System website has been developed by Dr David Brohn, who was awarded the Institution's President’s Award in recognition of his visionary approach to the education of students and graduates in structural engineering.

By the end of the course you'll be able to:

  • draw the qualitative solution for the deflected shape, reactions and bending moment diagram for a range of two-dimensional frames
  • explain the relationship between the diagrams and how each one can be checked against the other two
  • from the reactions, draw the axial and shear force diagrams
  • demonstrate the internal equilibrium at nodes and reactions
