Who should enter?

The award is open to all structural engineers regardless of the size of projects you have worked on. The judges have chosen criteria that highlights you as an individual and gives you the opportunity to talk about all aspects of what drives your passion for being an engineer.

Entry criteria

Your entry should include:

  • Poster presentation: submit an A1 poster in PDF format showing the project you are most proud of working on and why. Your poster should show the technical aspects of the design and demonstrate your own input to the project
  • Video recorded presentation: produce a 3-minute video on the subject of ‘A day in the life of a structural engineer: a personal perspective’
  • Opinion piece: submit a written piece of a maximum of 500 words on the topic set by the judges: ‘How can structural engineers thrive in a world where the right choice for the climate is often not to build?’
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Endorsement: A letter from your employer or professionally registered member of the Institution. A maximum of 300 words
