This internationally recognised mark of achievement sets you out as "one to watch" among the Institution's global membership.

Showcase your skills, achievements and how you’re driving the profession forward and become an ambassador for IStructE.

Who should enter?

The award is open to all structural engineers regardless of the size of projects you have worked on. The judges have chosen criteria that highlight you as an individual and give you the opportunity to talk about all aspects of what drives your passion for being an engineer.

Stage 1:

  • Submit an up-to-date CV (document maximum of 2 A4 pages).

  • Submit an opinion piece (maximum of 500 words) answering the following question:

What are the current limits of a Structural Engineer’s professional responsibility and how do you expect these limits to change in the future?

The piece should outline your personal perspective of the subject matter and judges will be considering the following elements:

  • Sound writing with a clear and logical reasoning

  • Depth of thought for the subject

  • Conclusions that relate to Structural Engineering

  • Insightful observations and approaches for the future

Stage 2:

If shortlisted after stage 1, you will be required to submit the following:

  • A poster presentation of the project you are most proud of working on.

  • A letter of endorsement from an employer.

You will then present your poster as part of a 30 minute interview with a selection of judges.
