The first presentation will cover the design and construction of modular bridge elements on the M25 Junction 10 project for National Highways. Presenters will highlight the early collaboration in the design stage to develop solutions utilising precast construction, the planning and implementation of modular bridge methodology on site, the challenges and successes and also how best practice and lessons learnt are being shared with other National Highways schemes. The second presentation will focus on the M27 Junction 10 project for Hampshire County Council. Presenters will discuss the design stages, construction challenges and complex installation methodology associated with the implementation of a new dual carriageway underpass beneath a busy stretch of the M27 motorway.
This lecture is open for anyone to attend, but may be especially relevent to:
Bridge engineers and highway design engineers.
Site engineers and construction managers.
Infrastructure professionals interested in precast construction techniques.
This lecture is organised by fibUK.
Corin is a Chartered Civil Engineer, specialising in the management and construction of reinforced concrete structures within the buildings and infrastructure sectors. He has worked for the contractor Laing O’Rourke for 19 years, on projects including Sizewell C and Hinkley Point C nuclear plants, Old Oak Common Station, and the Leadenhall Building. He is the current Deputy Chair of fibUK. His professional interests include construction simulation, DfMA and modular engineering, civil nuclear construction, sustainable concrete design, construction methods and temporary works.
Robert is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers, with extensive experience in the delivery of highway bridge projects, including design, construction support and site supervision. He has led teams in the design of complex infrastructure schemes and is passionate about achieving fully integrated project delivery, promoting strong collaboration between design and construction teams to deliver optimised and practical solutions.
Guy-Louis is an Incorporated Engineer who worked as a Senior Engineer for Expanded on the M25 J10 / A3 Improvement Scheme, focusing on project delivery. He was also part of the team that successfully delivered 8no bridges and 31no gantry bases on the scheme. Guy-Louis was involved in the construction of the Interchange Bridges over the M25 during the weekend closures, before taking a leading role in the construction of Cockcrow Overbridge during the weekend closure of the A3. His previous projects have included Brighton Hospital Redevelopment and Beckton Sewage Treatment Works AMP7 Upgrade.
Jonathan is an experienced site agent that has been involved on the M27 Junction 10 project since early 2023 supporting the initial survey work and detailed design into the construction which started late 2024. Throughout the construction phase he has been the operational lead managing a large team of engineers and overseeing all key sub-contract packages. During the Christmas 25 ‘box slide’ possession, Jonathan took a lead role in the complex phasing, logistics and delivery, driving the successful completion of the works ahead of programme. His previous projects include A31 Ringwood Bridge Replacements and A27 East of Lewes major improvements.
Lucy is an experienced design engineer, team leader and project manager with over 25 years' experience in the construction industry. She is currently the Head of Department for Ramboll's UK Major Bridges department. Lucy has worked as the structures technical lead on the M27 Junction 10 Project since 2022 covering initial and detailed design, integration of the Freyssinet jacking system and site support including the Christmas ’25 box slide. Other experience includes the design of the Mumbai Trans Harbour link in India, Storstrom Bridge in Denmark, and the Queensferry Crossing in Edinburgh.
