Mike Rudd. Mike has over 35 years’ experience as a Consulting Structural Engineer representing institutional, private and public sector clients.
As a founding director of ACIES (now part of the RSK Group), Mike has worked on new build, refurbishment, alteration and asset enhancement projects up to £350 million in capital value. He has acted as senior technical advisor for numerous funds and institutions and has been personally involved in the due diligence appraisal of over £5 billion worth of commercial, retail and industrial properties in the past 3 years alone including the £1.5 billion acquisition of the 52 storey Leadenhall Building, London (aka ‘the Cheesegrater) and the £600 million acquisition of Cannon Place London.
Mike has built up significant experience in compiling appraisal , feasibility , defect diagnosis and due diligence reports and has led design teams on extension, alteration and remediation schemes across many different types of building structure. He is also increasingly in demand as an Expert Witness on cases in the UK, Europe and Middle East – all of which require careful appraisal techniques.
As a director within the RSK Group he also works closely in house with materials scientists, testing facilities, laboratories and digital surveying specialists.
Presently Mike is a Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers Business Practice Committee.
Graduates through to recently chartered engineers who wish to improve their ability to appraise existing structures.
None, however a familiarity with the Institution’s Appraisal of existing structures 3rd ed is recommended.
