IStructE South Eastern Counties AGM 2026
The SEC hub Chair will report on the 2026 activities at the start of the evening.
The winners of this year three IStructE South East Region special prizes have been invited to share insights about the winning projects:
  • Award for innovation - Winchester college swimming pool (Arup)
Opening in 2026 and forming part of the wider Southern Campus redevelopment for Winchester college, this new state of the art swimming pool pavilion is enclosed by a unique folded plate roof comprised of ten interlocking CLT dart pairs with a clear span of over 21m.
  • Award for sustainability - parahithoo school, Thailand (AMP Structures)
Parihitathoo school is a 12 classroom learning centre for 300 children, serving refugees from Burma on the Thai–Burma border. Designed for impermanence, the structure responds directly to humanitarian uncertainty and so able to be dismantled, relocated and re-erected should the refugee crisis intensify elsewhere. The whichaway glasshouses are a retrofit and extension of existing glass-fibre sleeping pods at the whichaway camp in Antarctica. Designed to provide a transitionary space between the external environment and sleeping quarters, and heated predominately via solar gain from the low solar arc and midnight sun, the glasshouse creates an extraordinary spot to watch and observe the natural world around you.

The technical talk will be followed by networking, drinks and food to celebrate a successful year for the regional hub. The SEC hub committee would like to invite members of the IStructE and anyone passionate about structural engineering to join us on what is expected to be a memorable evening. The event is free and in person only, but please book a ticket for catering purposes
