The South Eastern Counties Regional Group is running a Membership Exam prep course for 11 weeks starting on Thursday 18 April 2024.

The South Eastern Counties Regional Group is delighted to confirm that it will be running an evening course this spring starting on Thursday 18 April 2024 and running for 11 evenings.

Courses will run from 17:15 to 19:15 and will help you prepare for all sections of the examination. The session will include homework in the form of weekly samples of Part 1A of the examination. Solutions will be discussed at the start of each lecture.

The course will be run online via Teams or similar platform.

The current programme is as follows though we may need to vary the running order should circumstances dictate:

17:45-19:15 - Feedback from recent attempts and examiners

Thursday 2 May
17:45-19:15 - Part 1A - concepts

Thursday 9 May
17:45-19:15 - Stability

Thursday 16 May
17:45-19:15 - Concrete

Thursday 23 May
17:45-19:15 - Timber and masonry

Thursday 30 May
17:45-19:15 - Steel

Thursday 6 June
17:45-19:15 - Letter, method statements, and carbon cost

Thursday 13 June
17:45-19:15 - Foundation and substructure

Thursday 20 June
17:45-19:15 - Drawings and details

Thursday 27 June
17:45-19:15 - Sample paper review in groups

While many parts of the course apply to all exam questions, the course will focus on building type structures. It will not specifically cover bridges or unusual structures like silos, seismic or off-shore structures.

The cost of the course will be £150 and numbers will be limited to 30 places.
