Changing global conditions shift how we see existing assets but also how we design new ones. Here, in the UK, we can consider multiple hazards and future scenarios, but ultimately what uncertain conditions should engineers design for, and how do we balance this with the competing drive to reduce embodied carbon and design lean buildings?
This talk will outline the concept of resilience and discuss findings from HRB processes to consider how resilience and risk are related, and what the future of design in a changing climate might look like.
