Message from the Chair
For 2026, I enter my second year as the Chair for the IStructE Australian Regional Group. In Q4 of 2025, we undertook a members survey and received some clear feedback on what Australian members want. In 2026 we will be focussing on this feedback by rolling out:

A national Chartered Membership Examination preparation course

Continuing with technical presentations, site visits and member events in each of the Hubs

Strengthening ties with a select group of universities in each state to highlight the role of the Institution and encourage more students to get involved

Continuing to improve collaboration with related organisations within Australia and the ASEAN region
We continue to seek members of all grades to help with Regional Group affairs and in particular those from South Australia and Western Australia. I’m looking forward to continuing to serve Australian members and celebrate the art and science of Structural Engineering.
Professional Registration in Australia
If you are seeking professional registration status in the states of Queensland or Victoria you can apply via the IStructE’s assessment schemes. Membership of the IStructE is not necessary.
