We support our members and promote structural engineering in the North West and North Wales.

Overview

If you live or work in the North West and North Wales you can contact us with any questions about IStructE membership or structural engineering in general.

Under the Structured for Success initiative Lancashire and Cheshire, and Chester and North Wales have come together as one new Regional Group called North West.

The Institution believes that this initiative will help to grow the membership and increase the interaction between HQ, the Regional Group and our members.

Hubs within the region

There will still be the localised hubs, and you can find links to those below.

Activities/events

Regional Group events will focus on activities that can reach across the entire region, where as the focus for hub activities is likely to be primarily social and societal activities that bring members together in a way and for a purpose that cannot be easily achieved in a larger regional context.

You can find a list of upcoming events across the region at the bottom of the page.  Please do visit the website regularly, as new events and news will be added throughout the year.

Technical handbook

This year’s handbook includes our schedule of Regional Group initiatives and technical talks, alongside updates from the Chair and President, details of The Young Members Hub activities and highlights from the 2025 North West & North Wales Structural Awards.
It also outlines opportunities to get involved with the Regional Group including volunteering for Professional Review Interviews and supporting STEM outreach.

The technical meetings programme is designed to support your CPD, strengthen our regional community and showcase the breadth of structural engineering expertise across the North West and North Wales. While an online option is available for many events, attending in person offers the best chance to connect with experts, exchange insights and expand your network.
We look forward to your participation and hope to see you at our events throughout the year.

If you have any questions, suggestions or would like to participate in future events, please contact the Regional Group Secretary at [email protected].
