Putting the net-zero hierarchy into practice: Build nothing

The Institution of Structural Engineers welcomes today’s launch of Version 1 of the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, (“the Standard”) the first cross industry framework to define what it means for buildings in the UK to be genuinely aligned with science based net zero carbon limits.

IStructE’s updated guidance " How to calculate embodied carbon " and revised Structural Carbon Tool steer the built environment industry to make informed decisions and calculations about emissions due to the use of construction materials.

IStructE’s 2023 pilot success sees roll-out of the scheme for eligible members.
