The Codes of Practice Committee which was established in December, 1942, as the result of negotiations initiated by the Ministry of Works in consultation with the Ministry of Health and other Government Departments handed over to the Institution of Structural Engineers the preparation of some of the contemplated Codes, particularly those that related to the Engineering in Buildings. Perhaps one of the more important, of these was the Code for Reinforced Concrete. Oscar Faber

(Vice- president of the Reinforced Concrete Association), proposing a vote of thanks, said that Dr. Faber’s last poetic remarks in his paper had rather put him off his stroke, as he was wondering which instrument in the orchestra he represented!
