The Structural Engineer, Volume 71, Issue 13, 1993
The design and construction of a cable-stayed steel roof for the 32 m cantilever structures over Yishun Indoor Stadium & Sports Complex - the first of its kind in Singapore - are described. The design philosophy, structural concept, structural modelling, and method of analysis are discussed. The design and construction of key structural elements such as the cable, steel mast, A-frame, truss and their structural behaviour are described in detail. The method of construction, connection, anchorage and prestressing of cables are highlighted. Dynamic analysis was carried out to determine and confirm the adequacy of structural design against dynamic loads, and the result is briefly discussed. J.M. Lau, K.B. Tan and C.C. Fong
Pushout tests have been carried out on 56 concrete-jilled steel hollow section tubes. Square and circular sections were used in this series, and the same concrete mix wus used throughout the experimental programme. All specimens were 450mm-long, and the steel-concrete interface was about 400mm-long. The tested specimens consisted of an equal number of square and circular steel hollow section tubes. H.
