Pushout Strength of Concrete-Filled Steel Hollow Sections

The design and construction of a cable-stayed steel roof for the 32 m cantilever structures over Yishun Indoor Stadium & Sports Complex - the first of its kind in Singapore - are described. The design philosophy, structural concept, structural modelling, and method of analysis are discussed. The design and construction of key structural elements such as the cable, steel mast, A-frame, truss and their structural behaviour are described in detail. The method of construction, connection, anchorage and prestressing of cables are highlighted. Pushout tests have been carried out on 56 concrete-jilled steel hollow section tubes. Square and circular sections were used in this series, and the same concrete mix wus used throughout the experimental programme. All specimens were 450mm-long, and the steel-concrete interface was about 400mm-long. The tested specimens consisted of an equal number of square and circular steel hollow section tubes. H.
