Here you will find answers to some of the most common questions about academic assessments.

How does the academic assessment work?

The academic assessment is a desktop assessment, you will be required to submit your certified degree certificates and transcripts, and syllabi upon request. These are then reviewed by the Academic Qualification Panel (AQP) at their quarterly meetings. You do not have to attend any exam or interview within this process.

Another professional institution has approved my qualifications, do I need to apply for an academic assessment with you?

In the majority of cases, we do not accept academic assessment result from other institutions. You will need to undertake our academic assessment if your qualification(s) do not fulfil our academic requirement for professional membership.

Can I book my exam/interview, before having my academic assessment?

You will need to have your academic assessment result, prior to booking any membership exam or interviews, to ensure that your qualifications satisfy the academic base for the applied for grade.

What happens after the assessment?

You’ll receive a formal outcome via email, please see the key dates here. If your qualifications meet the requirements, you can proceed with your membership application. If not, we’ll advise on alternative routes or further study options.

What if I have professional experience but no formal qualifications?

If you do not have formal qualifications, you can take the Technical Report Route B. Please contact our Membership Team for guidance.
