The new UK and Ireland Regional Group structure is currently being piloted by Ireland, Northwest UK and Scotland, and nominations are sought for positions vacant within these three ‘new style’ Regional Groups.

Structured for Success - Developing our regional communities

During 2021/2022 the Trustee Board and Council started the discussion on the rejuvenation of our UK and Ireland Regional Group structures. The growth, development and reputation of the Institution is founded in the strong commitment and energy of Institution members who actively and passionately contribute, support, coach, lead and share their skills and knowledge in many ways.

As the Institution continues to develop and grow, we need to harness the support of even more members and increase our support of those members who are involved with Institution activities. As our membership mix changes, the role and nature of Regional Groups is vitally important to bring members together as part of the ‘community Institution’.

The key issues for any regional group restructure is to maintain relevance of the Institution to the profession and public and to enhance inclusivity, equality of opportunity & transparency.

The new style Regional Groups are supported by a Regional Group Coordinator, an IStructE staff member, lessening the burden of Regional Group administration on our elected volunteers.

Regional Groups support a network of ‘Hubs’ within their region and the Regional Group Committee has representation from each Hub.

Ireland (4 vacancies)

  • Treasurer 2024 - 2025
  • ​Graduate Representative 2024
  • 2 x Committee member 2024 - 2026

Scotland (2 vacancies)

  • Vice Chair 2024 - 2025 - Scotland
  • ​Chair 2024 - 2025 – Scotland

Northwest (4 vacancies)

  • Secretary 2024 - 2025
  • Graduate Representative 2024
  • 2 x Committee member 2024 - 2026

Voting members are invited to stand for election as Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer ,Secretary or Committee member.

Graduate members or recently qualified (up to two years post-qualification) Chartered Members, Associates, Incorporated- Members and Technician-Members are invited to stand for election as Graduate Representative.

Nominations will close at 1200 Noon GMT, 31/07/2023
