A report from a project funded by a 2023 EEFIT Research Grant winner.

This project explored how 3D reality-capture technologies—such as laser scanning and photogrammetry—can be used to assess the construction quality and earthquake damage of historic masonry buildings.

During the 2023 EEFIT field missions in southeast Turkey, more than thirty monumental structures were documented using these tools. Our work developed and tested new methods to extract useful engineering information from the resulting 3D models.
