Speakers

John Armitage is Technical Director (Bridges) at Ramboll. He is a bridge designer with over 20 years’ experience in major highway and bridge schemes, including Queensferry Crossing landside structures, motorway widening and junction upgrades. He recently acted as Structures Technical Lead for HS2 Enabling Works North, including the design of bridges using DfMA techniques for bridge substructures. He led Ramboll’s input to Laing O’Rourke’s Digitally Enabled and Assured Product Based Bridges scheme.

Chris Hendy (Chair) is Chairman of fibUK and Technical Director at Atkins. He is a member of fib Commission 3 on Existing Concrete Structures and Head of the UK Delegation to fib Technical Council. He was awarded the ICE Gold Medal in 2016. Chris is Chairman of BSI bridge committee B525/10; he has written Designers’ Guides to Eurocodes and numerous standards and industry design guides. His projects include Dubai Metro Viaducts, New Medway Bridge, Forth Road Bridge, Penang Bridge and the Severn Bridge.

David Kwong is Principal Engineer at Wentworth House Partnership. He has over 10 years’ experience in temporary works and geotechnical design by working for both a consultant and contractor on technically challenging projects.

Philip Robinson is part of the Civil Engineering leadership team at Laing O’Rourke, focussing on innovation in the infrastructure sector and beyond. Philip works closely with clients, technology partners, centres of education, and Laing O’Rourke’s internal supply chain, and has developed an understanding of the needs and challenges that face the industry as we move forwards into a new digital age of construction.

Ioannis Vousvoukis is an Associate at Wentworth House Partnership, specialising in temporary works design. Previously he has worked as a Senior Structural Engineer for the Copenhagen Metro Team on the Cityringen project. He holds an MSc in earthquake resistant RC structure design.
