He sat on the committee that revised BS 8102:2022 and co authored CIRIA's C817 guidance on blue roofs. A registered Waterproofing Design Specialist and past Chair of the Property Care Association, Ben acts as an expert witness on major waterproofing disputes in the UK and internationally, and speaks regularly to design teams.

He served on the committee that revised BS 8102:2022 and authored waterproofing design requirements for technical manuals used by a number of UK structural insurers. James is a CSSW examiner and sits on the panel interviewing candidates for the Waterproofing Design Specialist register, specialising in design for listed buildings and waterproofing failure analysis.
