Gavin is an Associate at Conisbee, leading a team of structural engineers within the practice, working on a variety of new-build and refurbishment projects. He is currently working with the London Borough of Newham in providing Structural Safety Case Reports for the higher-risk buildings within the borough. As part of this work, Conisbee were an early user of the Institution’s new guidelines on writing Safety Cases Reports.

With 24 years of experience leading UK and international building projects, Jon is a Director in AECOM’s Building Structures team and Technical Practice Lead for UK+Europe.  His role includes coordinating the structural engineering output of AECOM’s Building Safety Act (BSA) working group. Jon is also chair of the IStructE’s Digital Workflows and Computational Design Panel, and has been working with the IStructE in the development of BSA and Golden Thread guidance for members.

Mark is an experienced Building Control Officer with a particular interest and specialism in structural engineering and fire. He has been involved in assessing some of the largest and most complex schemes in the country, including a number of very tall commercial towers. This involvement has spread from early design, through approvals, inspections from foundations to occupation, and some interesting factory inspections in Europe and China. He manages a group of multidisciplinary building control professionals, ensuring the safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency of buildings within the City of London. Mark is also a member of the business practice and regulatory control committee and since the Hackitt report, he has been much involved in advice to government on the future of building control, including being a member of Raising The Bar WG6 and the Future of Building Control Working Group.

Mark Snelling is a health, safety and fire consultant for the Property Institute, Chair of the Association for Project Safety Policy and Regulation Committee, member of the HSE’s Interim Industry Competence Committee’s Capability & Capacity Workgroup and an Executive of the Building Safety Alliance. After starting work as a construction project manager, he moved into health and safety and then into fire safety. He is chartered builder (MCIOB), Graduate member of IOSH (Grad IOSH) and Registered Fellow of the Association of Project Safety (RFaPS).

John founded a Structural Practice 30 years ago and still leads it today. The practice has grown to cover both structural and architectural projects across commercial, education, industrial and mixed use buildings. Offering a combined design service on domestic projects and Structural design and defect investigation on a range. As well as niche areas of structural engineering such as screwpiling and telecommunications. John has been a Trustee of the Institution over many years and served as Vice President 2019-20. He currently chairs the Institution’s trading company, delivering commercial revenues to be used to further the Institution’s objectives.

Victoria is a former Trustee and Elected Council member of IStructE. She is passionate about the role of the Institution in sharing knowledge, supporting those in practice, engaging the general public and enthusing future designers. She firmly believes in taking a broad, holistic approach to engineering and in the importance of the entire team in producing elegant and sustainable designs.
