This talk will cover creative structural design, artists architecture, bridges, buildings, sculpture, moving structures, manufacturing.

This talk will cover how the art of making influences design by looking at our work on a few key projects. We aim to foster structural efficiency and deep material understanding within our projects, leveraging geometry and computational skill to create unusual and exciting bridges, pavilions, sculptures and staircases.

Director of Design and Engineering, Cake Industries

David Knight is a chartered structural engineer and Director of Design and Engineering at Cake Industries. He created the design and engineering team within the multi-material fabrication business and established the stand-alone structural engineering consultancy Cake Engineering. He has managed and designed a variety of projects, both large and small, and delights in working closely with artists architects to design and project manage bridges, buildings, sculpture and moving structures.
