Congratulations to the winner of the 2025 Young Structural Engineering Professional Award

The Young Structural Engineering Professional Award is an internationally recognised mark of achievement, celebrating young engineers who are shaping the future of the profession. Receiving this award highlights an individual’s exceptional skills and accomplishments, distinguishing them as a "one to watch" within the Institution's global membership.
 
Following a rigorous judging process, we are pleased to announce the 2025 winner, along with our outstanding runners-up.
 

The judging panel shortlisted five exceptional finalists: Andrew Smith, Benjamin Sutton, Vera Sehlstedt, and Behnam Behzadi-Sofiani. Each of them demonstrated a high standard of achievement and strong potential for shaping the future of Structural Engineering.

Following a rigorous interview process, the judges selected Andrew Smith as the 2025 winner. Andrew impressed the panel with his leadership and mentoring abilities, technical expertise, and the impact he is making within the industry.

The runner-up prize was awarded to Behnam Behzadi-Soliani, who stood out for his thoughtful approach to Engineering, and for his clear passion for the profession. His combination of technical, academic, and teaching experience makes him a truly deserving runner-up.
