This report looks at how the Institution has:

  • Driven new standards for teaching requirements across accredited degree courses
  • Reset Chartered and Incorporated exams to include climate-related expertise
  • Raised professional standards by publishing guides like How to calculate embodied carbon, Design for zero and others
  • Supported the work of industry groups like Structural Engineers Declare
  • Brought people together through climate-related training and conferences, including the free annual Climate emergency conference
  • Celebrated structural engineering excellence with the Structural Awards, where judging criteria have been adjusted to focus on Profession, Process, People and Planet
The report also looks to the future and sets out our sustainability strategy for the next three years.
