Furkan Narlitepe

Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori

Furkan Narlitepe is a PhD candidate at the Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori in Pavia, Italy, supervised by Professor Vitor Silva. His research includes rapid earthquake impact analysis, damage-dependent fragility and vulnerability models, seismic retrofitting of reinforced concrete structures, and seismic risk assessment, in collaboration with the Global Earthquake Model Foundation. He holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from Karadeniz Technical University and an MSc in Earthquake Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. From 2020–2023, he was a Research Assistant at a private university in Türkiye and joined post-earthquake field missions. He is a member of ASCE, fib, and SECED.

Dr Mihaela Anca Ciupala Reader in Structural Engineering, University of East London

Dr Ciupala is a Reader in Structural Engineering, currently serving for the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering of the University of East London. Dr Ciupala is an EU Marie Curie Research Fellow, conducting interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research involving structural engineering, civil engineering and data science. She has been also conducting research on sustainability in engineering, covering the environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainability. Dr Ciupala has supervised PhD students in the fields of sustainability in engineering and AI empowered engineering. She has disseminated her research in conferences and prestigious journals.
